Enlist E3 Soybeans Clear Major Regulatory Hurdle

January 2019

Enlist E3™ Soybeans Clear Major Regulatory Hurdle
Earlier this week, China announced it has granted import approval for the soybean trait DAS-44406-06, otherwise known as Enlist E3™ soybeans. This announcement coincides with trade talks that are taking place between the United States and China this week. While this marks a very significant milestone on the road to commercialization for Enlist E3 soybeans, it is important to remember that the trait still requires import approval from the Philippines prior to full commercialization.

What does this mean for Stine soybean growers?
The Enlist E3 soybean system is now one step closer to full commercialization, and we are hopeful the final step is not too far off. In anticipation of final approval, we will continue to accept order reservations for Enlist E3 soybeans. Stine has an extensive lineup of Enlist E3 soybean options for growers to choose from in 2019.

Benefits of Enlist E3
Enlist E3 soybeans were developed in collaboration by MS Technologies™ and Dow AgroSciences (now Corteva Agriscience), and combine tolerance to a new 2,4-D, glyphosate and glufosinate in a three-gene stack — bringing growers more choices for weed control and high-yielding genetics. The Enlist E3 soybean system will benefit growers by providing maximum flexibility and convenience, along with the ability to use multiple modes of action for exceptional weed control.

Additional Opportunities for Stine Growers
As we move closer to final approval of Enlist E3, we are likely to see an increased demand for seed stock in 2020. Stine is currently seeking new seed production partners to help meet this anticipated demand. Growers who are excited to plant the industry’s first (and only) triple herbicide-tolerant trait stack, and who are also willing to grow it for seed, can order seed stock . We do not have any restrictions as far as geography; the only requirement is that growers must have on-farm storage for ALL the anticipated seed production so that they can separate and house the seed they grow.

If you have interest in becoming a seed production partner for Stine in 2019, please contact your local Stine sales representative or Special Projects Manager Denny Luther at deluther@stineseed.com. We look forward to working with all of you this growing season and for the anticipated commercial launch of the next big revolution in soybeans — Enlist E3.
