Each year, growers browse through pages upon pages of seed catalogs looking for the right corn hybrids that will hopefully maximize per acre profits. At Stine, we have a significant number of conventional, non-traited corn hybrids that can help growers increase their bottom line without sacrificing performance. We are one of the only seed companies that actively develops new conventional genetics. In fact, conventional genetics are the base of our breeding program, which means many times material that advances from our Elite Yield Trials — the last phase of our breeding program — to commercial release is often first released in conventional form.
Other seed companies are often bound to a specific line of insect- or herbicide-tolerant traits; however, as an independent seed company, Stine has the flexibility to work with conventional material first and then add traits from any trait provider later, no strings attached. Because not every situation calls for traits, many growers have found value in our elite conventional corn. This is especially true as we’re seeing fewer issues with above- and below-ground pests. More and more growers are reverting back to conventional corn or corn that only includes herbicide tolerant traits. This allows growers to save on trait fees and use a traditional insecticide for any insect pressure that does pop up.
Stine has a unique lineup of conventional corn, ranging from 77-day to 120-day relative maturity. For more information about Stine conventional corn, please contact your local Stine sales representative.
