Thinking back to 2020, our line of Stine® brand Enlist E3® soybeans had outstanding performance that is worth highlighting again. From the Delta South to the upper Midwest and the East Coast, the range of maturity options ensured that no matter the territory or disease and insect pressure, growers had an Enlist E3 soybean product that worked for their situation. Over the past several months, our Agronomy team and regional sales agronomists have shared the feedback they’ve received about these products, including some of the lines that have shined in their regions.
Outstanding Products
In the northern Corn Belt, Stine Corn Technical Agronomist Tony Lenz noted they had “numerous, consistent high-yielding Enlist E3 soybean varieties.” Some that stood out included Stine 06EC23, 12EB32, 24EA12 and 34EA12. These products all showcased very good emergence and standability and are also high-end yielders in our Elite Yield Trials.
Bill Kessinger, corn technical agronomist for our eastern sales territory, said that Stine 24EA12 and 34EA12 also performed well in the northern half of his region, from Ohio and Indiana to Michigan and Illinois. In the southern half of Bill’s territory, growers saw success from Stine 39EA02 and 41EA12, which continue to be top yielders for our customers. They also boast great disease packages, with added protection against Phytophthora root rot, SCN and stem canker, to name a few.
“The Enlist E3 platform as a whole was impressive, and we did have a couple of standout hybrids and varieties that worked across the different conditions … all handled those stress situations tremendously and packed a yield punch,” Bill reflected.
Stine RSA Kevin Krabel saw similar success with Stine 27EA23, 34EA12, 36EA02 and 39EA02. In fact, one grower in central Illinois told Kevin that Stine Enlist E3 soybeans performed “as good or better across the board” than any of the Asgrow® Xtend® soybeans he planted last year.
Dustin Ellis, our regional sales agronomist for central and southcentral Iowa, was very pleased with how Enlist E3 soybeans handled stress situations throughout the state, which ranged from a mid-season derecho to a late-season drought. A few of these products have performed well year after year.
“Our top-yielding Enlist E3 soybeans last year were Stine 19EA33, 21EA32, 24EA12 and 27EA23. Stine 19EC32 and 19EC33 are looking outstanding and are some of our new C-series soybeans that need to be considered for 2021,” Dustin noted.
Katie Lorenz, our regional sales agronomist for northeastern North Dakota, noted they saw record yields in her region in 2020, in particular with Stine 01EA63 and 03EB02, which are earlier maturity soybeans that have generated buzz in the northern Corn Belt.
“Stine 01EA63 and 03EB02 have been knocking it out of the park with yields in the 60s,” said Katie.
And in south-central Nebraska and southwestern Iowa, RSA Chad Kuehl saw “exceptional” yields, especially on irrigated grounds. “We saw multiple plots with the average above 90 bushels/acre,” Chad reflected.
It’s clear that Enlist E3 soybeans have exceeded expectations across the industry. With elite, high-yielding genetics and outstanding weed control based on built-in tolerance to three sites of herbicide action — 2,4-D choline, glyphosate and glufosinate (Liberty®), all of which are approved and readily available for 2021 — Enlist E3 soybeans will offer growers top-end yield potential this growing season.
