ADEL, Iowa — Stine Seed Company is pleased to announce that Thursday, March 24, 2022, is Women in Agriculture Day in Iowa.
For the third consecutive year, Stine® has partnered with FarmHer, Iowa FFA Foundation and Iowa 4-H Youth Development Program to obtain a state proclamation celebrating the women who make the ag industry prosper. This year, Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds invited Stine and its partners in this effort for a formal proclamation signing, officially designating March 24 as Women in Agriculture Day in Iowa. The proclamation says, “Iowa is taking decisive action to recognize the nearly 50,000 women who serve in leadership, support and influential, decision-making roles across Iowa’s 85,000 farms. And, in addition to working on the farm, women in agriculture make a difference across the state in various commodity and industry fields.”
“This is not only an exciting day for Iowans but also a proud time for all in the industry,” said Ann Clinton, communications manager for Stine. “Today, we can come together to celebrate women from all sectors of agriculture — from STEM, research and development, sales and distribution to international trade, manufacturing, ag education and more. We’re delighted to be a part of these efforts.”
While Stine is proud to honor women agricultural workers all year, they chose March 24 for Women in Agriculture Day because it falls within both Women’s History Month and National Agriculture Week (March 20–26). In addition to the state proclamation this year, Stine kicked off its annual Women in Ag campaign in early March. Throughout the campaign, Stine has interviewed women from many facets of the industry who have been key in fostering success in their roles and guiding the future generation of ag leaders.
“We’ve been eager to share the stories of the many women we’ve spoken to who have paved the way for the ag industry,” said Clinton. “From the Midwest to the Delta South and the East Coast and beyond, we hope all in agriculture join us in celebrating the accomplishments of these remarkable women this day and always.”
Stine is encouraging everyone to join in celebrating Women in Agriculture Day in Iowa by sharing their ag stories on social media using the hashtag #TogetHER4Ag. Individuals interested in learning more about the day or how Stine is celebrating women in agriculture throughout March are welcome to follow the Stine Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedInand YouTube pages, or catch the special edition Women in Ag episodes on the new Stine podcast — the Stine Seedcast — available wherever podcasts are found.
